General Description | Three rows of large stones are set within the width of the wall Locus:181909:023. From west to east, two large white quarried blocs (west bloc: 60.8 x 57 x 20 cm) are set one to each other with a gentle slope towards their join. A large long grey bluish cobblestone of ...x... cm marks the beginning of the door from the east. Another large grey cobblestone is set in the northern end of the threshold with its smaller face visible in the western face of the wall. In the south a similar, grey stone is shared with the surface of the threshold and set underneath the elevation of the southern part of the doorpost. The stone consists of a flat stone slab covering an empty space used most probably for holding a wooden beam used for a staircase installation. In this case, the weight of the lintel and the doorpost could maintain this beam. This setting gives a regular arrangement of the stones where the white blocs work as a symetric axis for the long grey stones north and south. The surface of the threshold was covered by sediment similar to Locus:181909:004 with modern material (aluminium). |
